Google Developing Video Games?

It seems like Google might be jumping into the world of gaming soon, if a report from TechNewsDaily is to believed. The site’s writer Dan Hope posted an article today highlighting some moves made by the tech giant in the last little while that seem to point towards another player in the online/mobile games arena.
According to the article Google has made a couple of recent hires that point towards game development. Firstly there was the recent hire of Mark DeLoura, a former employee of Sony Computer Entertainment America. Then there was the hiring of video game publisher Ubisoft, hired on as a “Developer Advocate.”
"I personally feel that Google hiring someone specifically to focus on games is a signal from the company that they recognize the growing importance of games as a medium," DeLoura was quoted as saying by Gamasutra.
The turn towards gaming makes sense with Google entering as a player on the smartphone operating system field. Not to mention they are one of the major web developers out there. Earlier we posted a story about how mobile phones are starting to trend towards being more social, fun, and game oriented. Google seems to have picked up on that as well with this latest move.
Perhaps there will be yet another platform to push your video game ideas to in the near future, alongside of those already confirmed by Microsoft, Nokia, and Apple?
